Hi,
I didn’t forget Nerd Me a River just yet. It’s my favorite site! I just haven’t had a lot of ideas for comic strips lately. Need more FUNNIES!
Actually I came here to advertise my latest achievement, GemDrop version 1.1 on Android Market. Download it! Or even.. BUY IT?!
Pretty please?
Sorry for all of you who only have iPhones, I don’t have the tools to make an iPhone version
Well, at least not yet I don’t. I was thinking of releasing a PC/Mac version of the game also, but I’m not sure if it’s suitable for a not-so-portable platform. Or am I just too careful?
The Timeskip Watch 25: Conclusion
by Antti on January 23, 2012 at 9:49 pmHere’s how it ends, with a SUPER SPECIAL COLORED FINAL PANEL for all of you who have waited for these past… THREE YEARS?!! Oh.. my… god. I really am the slowest comic artist ever.
I created the plot for this comic on a whim, without thinking it through at all and changing it in every chapter so that it would be funny and not logical. I hope you liked it. The story has some gaping holes and some things (every single thing) were left unanswered. The ending is a tribute to an ending in an original Captain Nerd comic I made years ago, while tributing a comic ending my brother made many years ago while he was imitating a comic I made even manyer years ago. Simple, isn’t it? I think it concludes things nicely. What? It doesn’t? Well, at least it’s funny. What? It’s not? WELL AT LEAST IT’S COLORED.
I will probably make part two that explains or does not explain the plot in this comic
But right now I’m going to focus on some game development and maybe after that, I’ll start updating NMAR more.
PS. I might release the original Captain Nerd comic I mentioned that is almost 10 years old. I found it on my hard drive while looking for some other stuff. It’s nice to see my drawing skills have developed, at least a little. My patience to do detailed stuff and write a good story, however, haven’t. Well, see ya next time.
Finally, a game and some shameless advertising
by Antti on January 10, 2012 at 10:57 amThe truth is, I haven’t updated NMAR lately. You might have noticed.
But I have a good reason! I’m learning game development! Which is REALLY FUN!! Honest. It’s like the best thing ever. I’ve been wanting to create games since I was a kid. Now I’ve actually released one on Android Market. Check it out!
Aren’t you glad that this webcomic/blog has turned into my private advertising page? Oh man… >:)
I’ve been neglecting NMAR lately. Been pretty busy with work with christmas coming up and I also started studying at Jyväskylä University. I got tired of stress-free life I guess. Ha ha, like I would have a stress-free day.
ANYWAYS, the end of The Timeskip Watch is coming. Wait for it. Waaiiiit fooooor iiiiit.
Wow, a genuine blog entry. It’s been rare for me recently to do this but here goes!
I had a very nice summer vacation. I drew a few comics even though I promised not to, went hiking to northern Sweden for 5 days and drove home through Norway. Wrote many pages for my upcoming book and lost weight. I spent a lot of time outside, swam in warm Finnish lakes and I think I’m more tanned than I have ever been before. I’m usually white as salt. I think I had the time to use computer only for a few brief moments. The whole affair was very relaxing since I’m a nerd and a programmer so sit in front of the machine for like 50 hours a week. All in all, I love summer and this went especially well.
Since I’m very ADHD I usually have several projects going on I can’t finish. During the summer I somehow went a bit sane and decided to actually drop some of the projects that just hang out in my head and cause me stress, because I’ve promised people that I finish them, but I never do. One project that bit the bullet was my old game project A Sticky Situation I revealed last year. Also I stopped coding two other games in favor of two more promising ones. I also dropped two open source Java projects I was trying to code and which were just going to fail. If you add these up, you already get 7 projects. That’s already a lot, but it doesn’t end there because I have my book (which I’m probably going to talk about later), my blog/comic which you’re reading right now, some music stuff and several other hobbyish things that I do. In addition to my actual work, I’ve just swamped myself with hobbies and from everything I try to create something publishable and it’s really hard and time-consuming for a hobbyist. But I’m starting to heal
Now if you began to suspect I’m going to announce something horrid regarding this blog, you’re wrong. Nerd Me a River is not that popular, but I still love drawing these so I’m not gonna drop this blog in favor of anything else. In addition to my wife, comics are the love of my life and I’ll probably never stop drawing them. The only problem is my low LOW attention span and the fact that it’s really hard to make it as a comic artist in Finland. Glad I didn’t quit my day job
For a final word, I’m just going to say that I’ll divert my free time more to certain promising projects. My book and that one platformer game I’m making are going to be the center of my attention. Nerd Me a River will stay as my “updated-once-or-twice-a-month”-hobby, like it’s always been. And I say it like a certain moustache’d Italian plumber in a red cap: “Thank-a you-a so much-a for reading-a my comics-a!”
